Trick or Treat?

Posted by admin on Oct 7, 2018 in Maintenance

Halloween is in a few weeks, and people are going to be carving up their best looking jack-0-lanterns.  Treat yourself to a working garbage disposal this fall by remembering to put any pumpkin seeds you don’t toast into the garbage.  It would be a real trick getting them out of there and could potentially ruin the disposal altogether.

Plumbing Prep for the Holidays

Posted by admin on Sep 23, 2018 in Maintenance

Summer is officially over, and there is a little time before the holidays begin and your house fills with friends and relatives.  Prepare now to take care of your small plumbing problems that may arise.  Make sure you have a plunger, pipe wrench, and consider a small drain snake to combat small clogs.  Don’t hesitate to call a professional for problems that are too large to handle, but the cost of few tools now will all prove to be cheaper than calling out your plumber for a clogged drain on Thanksgiving Day!

Watch for These Signs

Posted by admin on Aug 26, 2018 in Troubleshooting

Our sewer lines the majority of the time are out of sight and out of mind.  We rarely think of them until a problem arises, but there are signs that can help us catch a problem before it turns into a catastrophe.  Be on the lookout for strange gurgling sounds in your toilet, drains moving slowly without evidence of a clog, multiple clogs at once in different plumbing fixtures, patches of grass in your yard that are inexplicably greener than the rest of the yard, and unpleasant smells coming from your yard or basement.  If you experience any or all of these symptoms, have your system inspected promptly.  If there is an issue with your sewer line, the sooner it is repaired, the better.

Watch Where You’re Digging!

Summer is the time to be out in the yard gardening and landscaping, but you need to be careful.  Often your sewer, water, and electrical lines are running underneath your yard.  Make sure you know where they are located before you start digging.  In Oregon you can call 811 to have someone come out and locate your underground utilities at no cost to you.  If you aren’t sure, call before you dig!
